Winter Weddings at Ekudeni
Date: 8 February 2010 17h25 | Author: Ekudeni
Winters in South Africa, for the most part, are considered a great time of the year for wedding celebrations due to the ideal weather conditions and predictability. On the Highveld especially, it rarely rains during the winter months of June, July and August, although August is the classified as the windy month. In Cape Town, on the other hand, the rainy season takes place during the winter months, which makes summer time in the Cape a better time of year for weddings.
If you are planning on having your wedding during winter, then Ekudeni is the perfect venue for you. Situated on the “wedding mile” in Muldersdrift, this venue is 30 minutes travel distance from both Pretoria and Johannesburg. This makes it centrally located and easy to get to from most parts of Gauteng.
Winter weddings of all shapes and sizes are well suited to the venue. Ekudeni is able to accommodate both large outdoor weddings at midday in full sun and small cosy warm intimate indoor weddings.
Wedding Features and Facilities
The non denominational chapel on the Ekudeni premises allow for the reception and ceremony to take place within close vicinity of each other and guests are able to move easily between the two venues.
Reception and Catering
Price in terms of catering is per head. Crockery and cutlery as well as venue setup is included in the cost per head.
For the chilly winter wedding it might be a nice idea to serve glasses of Sherry or even a fresh pot of gluvine to wedding guests to keep warm and enjoy while the newlyweds have their photos taken.
Food for the reception can be plated or buffet style. Hot dishes can include meals ranging from your favourite roast to a mouth quenching traditional stew, a nice mild curie or a hearty soup.
For dessert we suggest serving hot malva pudding and fresh vanilla custard.
Accommodation
Ekudeni have available up to 28 rooms of various size and standards to accommodate guests who wish to stay over after the wedding.
The bridal couple has as part of the package FREE bed and breakfast in the bridal suite for the night of the wedding.
Wedding Photography
Although winter equates to leafless trees and yellow grass, there are still great opportunities to take perfect wedding photos. At Ekudeni we have a host of evergreen trees, shrubbery and creepers, which make excellent backdrops for intimate photos. The leaves from the trees that have dropped give an awesome colour spread for sepia photos. Black and white photos take on our rolling lawns are also a winner.
